Contentment and covetousness are opposing forces. One moves us closer to God's heart while the other distances us from God. Covetousness: root word covet, to desire or wish for with eagerness; to desire earnestly to obtain or possess; a strong desire. 1 Timothy 6:6 Godliness with contentment. Complete satisfaction in God's will. Psalm 107:9 God satisfies the longing soul. Soul = mind, will, emotions we must learn to be content in the will of the Father. Psalm 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God... thy law is within my heart (center of my being) Jesus said, "My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish His work." John 4:34 Our Lord was content in doing the will of God. Can we? Hebrew 13:5 tells us to let our "behavior" conduc be without covetousness, "without a strong desire to possess or obtain anything that is not according to God's will." Be content with such things as you have. God said I will never forsake you. Paul said in Philippians 4:11 for I have learned (we must let God through the Holy Spirit teach us how to be content in whatsoever state we are in) again, "whatsoever state" this mindset takes desire. Remember Psalm 107:9 God wants us to be free from the spirit of covetousness. Isaiah 26:3 we must keep our minds on Him Daily to stay in perfect or His complete peace. This comes through prayer and crucifying the flesh desires, and a will to be lined up with God's divine orde which He has ordained for your life. Please press toward it.Love you, Pastor Dilosa |
